West Ham United have now made Sevilla a bid to loan Youssef En-Nesyri with an obligation for his permanent transfer. But the striker has no interest in moving teams during January.

That is according to Marca, which reports the Hammers have submitted a bid for En-Nesyri that caught Los Nervionenses’ attention. The Irons are looking to sign the Morocco star for the rest of the season and would pay just over €20m (£17.5m) to then buy the 25-year-old.

West Ham are also willing to include further add-ons, which could entice Sevilla to cash in. They paid Leganes €20m to sign the forward in January 2020 but have not seen him deliver consistently. He is also yet to score in La Liga this season after 12 games, starting just four.

But while Sevilla would consider West Ham’s offer, En-Nesyri does not want to leave the La Liga side in a January transfer. He has no interest in moving to London after struggling with life in the city while in Chelsea’s academy. He had a brief spell there before joining Malaga.

En-Nesyri would stay at Malaga from 2015 to 2018, then Leganes until his switch to Sevilla in 2020. Now, the striker feels at home at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and he only wants to stay in southern Spain. The Nervion district in the east of Seville gives everything he wants.

Sevilla striker En-Nesyri will reject any transfer to West Ham for the second time

So, with En-Nesyri determined to stay at Sevilla, the La Liga side are not optimistic they can get a good transfer amid West Ham’s interest. Even if the Irons could more than double his £46k-a-week wage with a move. Further, it is the second time that he snubs the Hammers.

West Ham also sought En-Nesyri’s transfer from Sevilla in the summer of 2021. Marca adds the Irons offered €30m (£26.5m) at the time but the forward issued a firm refusal to move. Los Nervionenses were open to holding further negotiations, too, before he firmly said no.

So, Irons boss David Moyes will again have to bid elsewhere to add further firepower to his attack. Even if En-Nesyri – who has five goals in 18 games across all competitions this term and hit home two in seven World Cup ties – is a forward that the Scot clearly rates highly.

“There is more to them than just defending,” Moyes said of Morocco in his column for The Times during the World Cup. “In Youssef En-Nesyri, they have a centre-forward who is an incredible, good runner and gives them an outlet.”
