Stetson’s mom Denise Bennett gives an emotional interview

Stetson Bennett IV’s parents are Denise and Stetson Bennett III. The couple met and graduated from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. Bennett is also the grandson of Buddy Bennett, who played quarterback at South Carolina from 1958 to 1960 and later became a coach.

Denise Bennett, Stetson’s mom, spoke to 11Alive’s Maria Martin after her son’s championship victory last year. Stetson Bennett’s mom said she was feeling a “lifetime of emotions” as she was surrounded by Stetson’s siblings (he has five in total).

Denise held back the tears and admitted it was a “dream” – she is a lifelong Bulldogs fan.

Stetson Bennett’s dad and his early days with the Brantley Bandits

Stetson Bennett was born on 28 October 1998 in Atlanta, Georgia. He moved to Brantley in southeast Georgia when he was five years old. His father is Stetson Bennett III and, during the QB’s early years, the elder Bennett did everything to enable his son’s football career.

The elder Bennett is involved in the pharmaceutical industry. When a pharmacy was being built in Nahunta, Georgia, he created a football field on a lot nearby so Stetson could play, as reported by ESPN.

Growing up, Stetson played for the Brantley Bandits, a rec team coached by his father. Speaking about forming the team, Stetson Bennett III said: “I walked the halls of the elementary school recruiting kids to play. It didn’t matter if he was 30 pounds or 80. I told him he looked like he was going to be a football player.”

In 2010, during Bennett IV’s seventh-grade season, the Brantley Bandits played a 34-game schedule, including three games in one day. The team finished 32-2, and the younger Stetson was well on his way to a stellar college career.
