Speaking on the House of Champions Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Newcastle United’s transfer plans, and he’s, once again, stated that the Magpies want James Maddison.
Newcastle have been linked with Maddison since the summer, and according to Romano, that interest hasn’t waned.
In fact, Romano says that the Magpies are completely convinced that Maddison is the player for them, stating that the club consider him the perfect player for Eddie Howe’s ideas going forward.

Romano shared just how much the Magpies love this player.
“Then one of the top targets they have, let’s see if it’s going to be January or the summer, but it is Maddison. He is the player they love. They consider him the perfect player for their ideas for Eddie Howe’s ideas, so I would keep Maddison amongst the targets for Newcastle, for sure,” Romano said.

If Newcastle really are that sold on Maddison and the future he could have at their club, they have to go out and sign him.
Whether it’s this month or in the summer, the Magpies can’t afford to miss out on a player they believe is perfect for them.
If Newcastle genuinely believe that Howe and Maddison could be a match made in heaven, then this could be one of the most exciting transfers of the year.
When Maddison is at his best, he is one of the most joyous players in the Premier League to watch, and as we have seen at Newcastle this season, Howe can unlock these mercurial attacking talents to great effect.
Maddison is ready for this step up and Newcastle need to make sure he’s playing at St James’ Park soon.
