Southampton have reportedly had a bid rejected by Lorient for Nigerian international Terem Moffi, with Everton and West Ham also interested in signing the 23-year-old.
According to Foot Mercato, the Saints have been pushed back by the Ligue 1 side by rejecting a €10m (£8m) offer from Nathan Jones’ club for Moffi, who this season has been one of the breakout strikers in the division with ten goals in 16 league appearances.
Moffi is at the centre of plenty of interest this January, mainly from Premier League clubs, with Foot Mercato previously reporting that the likes of Everton and West Ham are chasing the Lorient star, though Southampton are the first side to come forward with an actual offer.
With Jones already signing one forward this month in Mislav Orsic, adding another in Moffi would be a great start to the transfer window for the new Southampton manager, who this weekend finally picked up his first win at the club in the FA Cup against Crystal Palace.

Indeed, Moffi signing for Southampton would be quite the statement from the south coast side given how highly sought after the striker is this January. And this latest update is a strong indicator that the Saints are ready to go all the way to bring the Nigerian to England.
Whilst interest from Everton and West Ham could deter Southampton from signing the Lorient star, this opening bid could lead to an improved offer from the Saints, with Moffi a player who could lead Jones’ attack in the second half of the season.
Southampton must do all they can to sign Moffi

Southampton’s transfer moves in the summer were ones that will likely work out in the summer, which is why that signing experienced players this month is so crucial for Jones, with Moffi joining Orisic a move that would be massive for the Saints.
After all, numerous Premier League rivals are chasing Moffi already this window, and Southampton winning the race for the attacker’s signature would be a major win for the club and a strong sign that the south coast side are heading into the right direction under Jones.
