Jeunes Footeux report that Manchester United have joined Everton, West Ham and Aston Villa in the race to sign Genk striker Paul Onuachu with the target man in stunning form – scoring a huge 15 goals in 18 appearances this season.

The 6ft 6in striker has long been linked with a move to the Premier League. His form in Belgium has attracted plenty of suitors and this month, it is no different. The 16-time Nigeria striker has an impressive 83 goals in 130 Genk games.

Manchester United are said to be closing in on a move to sign Wout Weghorst. But, it remains to be seen if a move can be organised – with Weghorst currently on loan at Besiktas, from Burnley. Onuachu might be the back-up for United.

However, United are not alone. Indeed, Everton, West Ham and Villa are also pushing to land the talismanic striker. The report states a fee between £17.5million and £21.5million could do the trick to convince Genk to cash in this month.

So, which would be his best move? United is obviously the most attractive, but Onuachu would only be considered a plan B for the big forward. He would be used from the bench if needed, say if United were pushing for a late goal.

They do have Europe on offer, giving Onuachu the chance for more game time. Villa could lose Danny Ings and he would need replacing, while Everton are in desperate need of a striker regardless. But his best move is West Ham.

The way the Hammers play under David Moyes requires a striker that can hold the ball up. Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca, although they do not have the height, are examples. With Europe on offer, West Ham is best.
