Lee Dixon has praised Arsenal attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira on ITV (9:21pm, January 9, 2023) for his involvement in the Gunners’ first goal against Oxford United away from home in the third round of the FA Cup on Monday evening.
Arsenal got the better of Oxford in the third round of the FA Cup this evening.
The Gunners did not have the best of times in the first half, but the North London club stepped up their game in the second period and scored three goals.
Mikel Arteta’s side won the match 3-0.
Attacking midfielder Vieira provided two assists.
The £30 million (Sky Sports) Portuguese player was crucial in the opening goal.
It came in the 63rd minute.
Arsenal were awarded a free kick on the left wing.
It was in a dangerous position.
Vieira whipped in the free kick with pace, and Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny powered it home.
And Dixon was impressed.
The former Arsenal star was on co-commentary duty for the match on ITV.

Praise for Arsenal star Fabio Vieira v Oxford United
Dixon said: “It’s a perfect free kick in a real dangerous position. Elneny just gets something on it.”
The pundit added: “Vieira providing that quality set-piece.”
Like a lot of the Arsenal players, Fabio Vieira did not have the best of times in the first half, but he was brilliant in the second period against Oxford.
The 22-year-old showed what he is capable of, and we think that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be very pleased with him tonight.
