Brighton and Hove Albion CEO Paul Barber has told CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have yet to bid for Moises Caicedo, a player Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United also want to sign.

Barber has said that Brighton do not want to sell Caicedo, who is reportedly on the radar of Liverpool and Newcastle.

The Brighton CEO has also suggested that any club wishing to sign the 21-year-old Ecuador international midfielder will have to pay a lot of money.

The Athletic have reported that Newcastle want to sign Caicedo from Brighton.

Goal have claimed that Liverpool are keen on bringing the 21-year-old midfielder to Anfield.

Moises Caicedo to Liverpool or Newcastle unlikely in January

In our opinion, it is unlikely that Liverpool or Newcastle United will be able to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window.

Yes, every player has his price, but Brighton are an established club in the Premier League who could end up in the European places in the table this season.

Brighton are not desperate to sell any of their players, and it is unlikely that they will entertain any bids for Caicedo in the middle of the season.

Now, of course, if Liverpool or Newcastle offer a massive transfer fee, say like £80 million, then Brighton could be tempted to cash in on him, but we do not think that the Reds or the Magpies will pay that much money, especially in the January transfer window.
