West Ham United are eyeing Terem Moffi with David Moyes and co potentially set to rival Southampton for the Lorient striker.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim that West Ham have been watching Moffi ahead of a possible bid for the goalscorer.

The problem for West Ham is that Southampton are really pushing ahead with a deal for Moffi.

It’s stated that Southampton have cautious optimism that a deal will be agreed for Moffi in the coming days.

Talks are ongoing and Lorient may be tempted to sell with Moffi into the final 18 months of his contract.

West Ham are therefore running out of time to make their move for Moffi, and they may well see him join a Premier League rival very soon.

Who is West Ham United target Terem Moffi?

Moffi hails from Nigeria but actually started his professional career in Lithuania with Kauno Zalgiris before smashing 20 goals in 29 games for rivals Riteriai.

Moffi has though emerged into the Nigeria national team setup, bagging three goals in nine caps.

The 23-year-old has been on a quite remarkable rise in recent years.

Belgian side Kortrijk pounced to lure Moffi away from Lithuania and he scored five goals in 11 outings to very quickly earn himself a move to France’s top flight.

Lorient snapped up Moffi and he has been a regular goalscorer ever since, smashing 32 goals in 85 Ligue 1 outings.

Hailed as a ‘very high-level’ player by former boss Christophe Pelissier, Moffi seems to keep scoring wherever he goes.

Moffi’s rise could continue with a Premier League move with West Ham now chasing another attacking addition.

Gianluca Scamacca scored on Wednesday night but has blown hot and cold since his summer move, whilst Michail Antonio has scored just twice this season.

Moffi could be seen as a big addition to West Ham’s attack but they will have to move quickly to beat Southampton to his signature.
