Pablo Hernandez has labelled Mateusz Klich a Leeds United ‘legend’ on his Instagram story ahead of his departure to Wayne Rooney’s DC United in the MLS.
The 32-year-old said his final goodbyes to the Elland Road crowd on Wednesday night as Leeds United recorded a 2-2 draw against West Ham United.
Klich came on as a second-half substitute, with his teammates sporting shirts with his name on the back, as well as giving the tearful midfielder a guard of honour.

The Poland international was clearly taken back, with his five-year association with the Yorkshire giants now coming to an end.
From a fringe player that wasn’t deemed good enough when they were in England’s second tier to someone who thrived under the stewardship of Marcelo Bielsa and helped Leeds earn promotion to the Premier League.
It has been a rollercoaster of a journey for the player, as another Leeds legend, Pablo Hernandez, who was part of it all, sent the following message to his former teammate via his IG story.
“All the best in your new chapter,” said Hernandez. “Leeds legend forever.”

LEEDS UNITED PROMOTION
Leeds spent many, many dark days in the lower leagues of English football. It was nearing 20 years of the Yorkshire giants not even tasting a single minute of Premier League action.
But it was the likes of Bielsa, Klich and Hernandez who played an integral part in the club’s return to the promised land.
Those players, from boyhood fan Kalvin Phillips, to loan hero Ben White, will be remembered in a fond manner for what they did.
And someone like Klich, who had previously struggled at the club before, is no different.
