Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad claim that Rangers want to sign defender William Pacho after scouting him recently – but the Ibrox club face plenty of competition from Ligue 1 for the Belgium-based defender over the next few weeks.
Pacho, 21, joined Belgian side Royal Antwerp in January and has since clocked up 27 appearances. Enough to see him called-up for Ecuador at the World Cup in Qatar – but he failed to get off the bench. Nevertheless, Rangers are keen.
Scouts have been impressed with the Ecuadorian and Rangers are keen to make a move this month. That is despite having plenty of competition in the middle of the defence, with players beginning to return from injury at Ibrox.
Ben Davies and Connor Goldson are forming a decent partnership. Leon King is fit, but John Souttar and Filip Helander remain sidelined. So, the need for another centre-back is clear. Michael Beale is keen on luring Pacho to Ibrox.

However, Rangers have competition. Indeed, French giants Monaco are also interested in landing Pacho. Antwerp have a contract in place with defender until the summer of 2026. It is unclear how much Antwerp would want for their star.
Rangers want to sign defender William Pacho, face Monaco competition
Pacho would be a superb addition. A player that would not expect to play week in, week out at his age. But one that Beale can mould with his expertise on the training ground. Rangers have ‘scouted him several times’, as have Monaco.
Not only that, but given his age and potential, a player with huge resale value. The kind of market Rangers need to be looking in. To beat Monaco to the signing of Pacho would be some coup. The French side would be favourites.
