Estadio Deportivo claim Arsenal will move for Barcelona and Spain forward Ferran Torres if they fail to agree a fee with Shakhtar Dontesk for Mykhaylo Mudryk – while Tottenham are also keen on Torres, but are unwilling to spend big.

Torres, 22, has impressed at Barcelona since swapping Manchester City for the Nou Camp. Having netted 16 goals at City in 43 games, he joined Barca in January. Since then, he has produced 19 goals and assists in 45 appearances.

Not bad, given 13 of those 45 have been as a sub – and he has completed 90 minutes just 16 times. But his future, like many other Barcelona players, is up for debate. The club’s finances mean any player is available for the right price.

Arsenal and Shakhtar continue to talk over a fee for Mudryk, with nothing agreed. Shakhtar want a huge figure, while Arsenal have seen an official bid rejected. If talks reach an impasse, ED report Arsenal will go after Torres, instead.

However, the Gunners are not the only club keen on luring Torres to North London. Spurs want Spain’s World Cup star, too. But Spurs are Spurs, and Daniel Levy is unwilling to go beyond £35million for Torres – despite his impressive stats.

Which move would be best for Torres? Right now, it is clear that the right move is to Arsenal. He would be a direct rival for Gabriel Martinelli and you may argue, that he could overtake the Brazilian. The latter could start to play as a striker.

Indeed, Torres is easily good enough to start for an Arsenal or a Tottenham – proven by his Spain, City and Barca form. At Spurs, they desperately need a player like Torres. One to come in and replace the out-of-form Son Heung-min.
