Arsenal want Joao Felix and the Atletico Madrid attacker is understood to still be in contact with former teammate Thomas Partey.

That’s according to The Athletic, who report that Felix is still in regular contact with Partey.

That could be a factor for Arsenal as they look to sign Felix in this month’s transfer window.

Arsenal are understood to be interested in signing Felix, who is seeking a move away from Atletico.

The Portuguese attacker cost Atletico a huge £113million back in 2019 having shown enormous potential with Benfica.

Whilst there have been flashes of Felix’s quality but Diego Simeone just isn’t the right manager for the 23-year-old.

A January loan move is now in the offing but Arsenal feel Atletico’s demands are just beyond them right now.

Jorge Mendes has been pitching a €15million loan deal (£13million) with €6million (£5.3million) in wages until the summer.

That’s huge cash for just a few month and Arsenal are currently waiting to see if the numbers drop.

How did Thomas Partey and Arsenal target Joao Felix fare together?

Partey and Felix actually went up against each other over the summer with Portugal facing Ghana at the World Cup.

Their record together at Atletico may leave Arsenal fans hoping for Felix to arrive and replicate that success.

Partey and Felix played together 32 times for Atletico, claiming 1.78 points per game.

Only three times did they lose in 90 minutes – two other defeats came via penalties.

14 wins in those 32 games is a decent record and they may soon be able to try and add a few more wins to their combined record.

That connection between the pair could be vital for Arsenal, especially as they chase the Premier League title.

Add in that Partey could try and convince Felix to make the move to North London and this friendship could pay huge dividends.
