Man City ace says Arsenal topping the PL is ‘not a surprise’ due to Mikel Arteta

Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva has said that he is unsurprised by the rise of Arsenal, due to the brilliance of Mikel Arteta.

Arteta coached Bernardo amongst several other superstars at City during his time at the club as an assistant coach to Pep Guardiola.

Before becoming Arsenal boss in 2020, the coach played a key role in the Sky Blues winning back-to-back Premier League titles amongst other trophies.

Mikel Arteta was known to deliver Pep Guardiola’s instructions to players in training, especially working one-on-one with them.

And as was evident at Man City, the players took to those instructions with ease and dominated the English game.

It seems as if the same has been the case at Arsenal, as Arteta has managed to mastermind his side to a 5-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Heading into the 2022/2023 season, the general consensus remained that the Gunners would likely secure 4^th place at best.

However, a certain ex-colleague is not taken aback by the North Londoners’ ascent because of one man and one man only.

Bernardo Silva is unsurprised by how well Arsenal have performed due to Mikel Arteta

Man City lynchpin Bernardo Silva has said he is not surprised by the sizable leap taken by Arsenal this season due to the presence of the brilliant Mikel Arteta.

“Arsenal is not a surprise for me. Maybe it’s a surprise for some. For me, no because I know very well, the manager [Mikel Arteta].”

“I know how good he is and how well he understands the game, and how much he demands the players because he was with us [Man City] and he demanded the same thing from us”, he told Sky Sports.

Testament to what a top coach Arteta is

Despite all the high and lows Arsenal have suffered during the reign of Mikel Arteta, the fact that Bernardo Silva always had full faith in him as a coach speaks volumes about his acumen.

This is a man that has worked in close quarters with arguably the game’s greatest ever tactician in Pep Guardiola for the last 5 years.

The fact that Bernardo Silva is such a massive admirer of Mikel Arteta just goes to show that Arsenal have an extremely well-respected manager within their ranks.
