Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has raved about striker Darwin Nunez on the club’s official website.
Klopp has said that the 23-year-old Liverpool striker, signed from Benfica in the summer of 2022, is exceptional.
The Liverpool boss made the comments about the Uruguay international while defending him against criticism that he is not scoring too many goals.
Nunez has scored five goals and provided two assists in 11 Premier League appearances for Liverpool so far this season.
The youngster has scored three goals in six UEFA Champions League appearances for the Reds so far this campaign.
Nunez failed to score a single goal for Uruguay at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez
Klopp said: “In a top-level football competition like the Premier League, with the limited amount of sessions you have, it is not that we go outside and tell him after playing 90 minutes in the last two games, ‘OK, come on, today we do finishing.’
“It’s just not possible. It is more about talking about it – and we are in constant conversation about this, but in the right manner and not pointing the finger and saying, ‘Here you have to finish like that, here you have to finish that…’
“He is an exceptional talent, really exceptional. Yes, that he comes in these situations, that’s what I meant after the game – he was not to defend in these moments.
“He missed the goal, yes, but he was not to defend because there is nothing you can do against this power when he can generate that. The rest will come, that’s how it is.”

Staying positive
In our opinion, there is no need whatsoever to panic over Darwin Nunez not scoring too many goals for Liverpool at the moment.
Liverpool are doing fine in attack at the moment, with Egypt international forward Mohamed Salah scoring goals for fun.
Nunez is getting into good positions and is working hard.
The striker is getting chances, and he is running at defenders and making opposition players worried.
Goals will come for Nunez.
Eventually.
