The Athletic’s Phil Hay has reported that Leeds feel Tyler Adams is ready to become their next club captain.
Upon being handed the captaincy for USA at the World Cup, Adams seemed like he was born to be a leader of men.
The Leeds midfielder’s game seemed to elevate to unseen heights upon donning the captain’s armband at the highest stage of them all.
So much so that Chris Sutton went as far as to claim that Tyler Adams outplayed Declan Rice during the USMNT’s 0-0 draw against England in his column for the Daily Mail.
The former RB Leipzig starlet managed to shine at the World Cup for his country, despite them not being packed with any superstars.
Additionally, Adams was the youngest captain in Qatar, which also goes to prove that he is a natural leader.
Now, it seems his club themselves feel he would be perfectly suited to taking on the lofty task.

The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has stated in a new report that some within the Leeds United camp believe Tyler Adams has the minerals to become their future captain.
In fact, Leeds plan to hand Adams the captaincy once Liam Cooper moves on, as his current contract expires in 2024.

It would have understandable if Tyler Adams failed to cope with the pressure of captaining his nation at the World Cup.
However, Adams showed no signs of any nerves, revelling in his role as a USMNT captain whilst also putting in stellar displays.
If Leeds are searching for a successor to lead the club forward from Liam Cooper for years to come, the £20 million (Sky Sports) ace’s leadership and consistency makes him the ideal choice.
