Cody Gakpo has signed for Liverpool – and immediately admitted that he can’t wait to play with Reds superstar Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool are pretty good at hijacking deals.
Tottenham Hotspur found that in January of this year with Liverpool spoiling their move for Luis Diaz.
Now it’s Manchester United on the receiving end with Liverpool moving in to sign a prime United target in Gakpo.
The PSV Eindhoven winger was only being loosely linked to Liverpool but by Monday night, it was pretty much a done deal.
Liverpool confirmed the signing of Gakpo on Wednesday night, handing him the number 18 shirt ahead of his move going through in January.
Sky Sports report that the fee involved is somewhere between £35million and £45million with Liverpool adding another attacking threat in Gakpo.

Gakpo already excited to play with Salah for LIverpool
Gakpo can now join the likes of Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in a star-studded attacking lineup when everybody is fit.
The Dutch wide man has now spoken to Liverpool’s official website and he has already spoken about Salah.
Gakpo admitted that it’s ‘really great’ to now be playing alongside one of the top attacking players in the world in Salah.
Gakpo added that Salah is a ‘fantastic player’ and he can’t wait to not only play with the Egyptian, but also learn from him.
The hope is that Salah can help Gakpo improve and Liverpool’s new man is excited to win games alongside the Egyptian.
“It’s really great,” said Gakpo. “He’s a fantastic player and I’m really looking forward to learning things from him and to see how he does things so I can also improve my game and that we can win a lot of games together,” he added.
Based on this season’s form, Gakpo hardly needs pointers on attacking play.
13 goals and 17 assists in 24 games is a ridiculous record and Gakpo even scored three goals at the World Cup in Qatar.
The Premier League is still a major step up though and if Salah can pass on some of his expertise, Liverpool will have another deadly attacker to call upon.
