Leeds United want Mason Holgate and a January move for the Everton man would see him finally break in at Elland Road.

The Whites are eyeing defensive additions in the January transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Red Bull Salzburg left back Maximilian Wober is a prime target and talks are expected soon.

Leeds are being linked with other defenders though with Jesse Marsch possibly looking to shore up his back line.

Another name mentioned is Everton defender Mason Holgate.

The Sun claim that Leeds have made contact to try and sign Holgate during the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old could be available in January with Everton looking to offload a defender or two and Leeds are in the mix.

Holgate once decided to quit Leeds United

A move to Leeds will bring back memories for Holgate.

The Doncaster-born defender was in-demand as a kid and after starting with Barnsley at the age of nine, Holgate joined Leeds.

As claimed by former Barnsley youth coach Mark Burton, Holgate didn’t settle at Leeds and wanted to return to Barnsley at the age of 13.

The Tykes were more than happy to take Holgate back and he ended up becoming a first-team player before heading to Everton.

Holgate may now have another chance to become a Leeds star.

That first spell at Leeds was both so fleeting and so long ago that maybe Holgate fancies giving it another crack with the Whites.

If there is a chance to play regular first-team football in the Premier League, Holgate will surely fancy making the move away from Goodison Park.

A move to Elland Road will surely appeal even after leaving many years ago and having come close to a Leeds future once upon a time, this could be the perfect opportunity for Holgate to finally make it happen.
