Newcastle United want Khephren Thuram as they consider a move for the Nice midfielder having already eyed up his brother Marcus.

That’s according to the Daily Mail as they claim that Newcastle are looking to bring in a new midfielder in the January transfer window.

Bruno Guimaraes is shining and Joelinton has become a quality box-to-box midfielder and yet Eddie Howe and co continue to hunt.

Newcastle may fancy adding a defensively-minded midfielder to allow Bruno and Joelinton the freedom to roam.

Thuram could fit that bill having played as a holding midfielder for Nice this season, with some appearances as a box-to-box player.

The 21-year-old is considered to be a big talent and Newcastle – who are frequent shoppers in the French market – could now move for Thuram.

Who is Newcastle United target Khephren Thuram?

Thuram, 21, was born in Italy as his famous father Lilian was playing for Parma at the time.

The giant 6ft 4in ace hasn’t become a defender like his father though and has instead become a midfielder.

After stints in the Boulogne-Billancourt and Monaco academies, Thuram headed to Nice in 2019 and has now become a first-team star.

Thuram has racked up over 100 appearances for Nice and Newcastle now appear to be paying very close attention.

What’s interesting here is that Newcastle have already been linked with Khephren’s brother Marcus.

Bild report that Newcastle are set to make a £10million move for Borussia Monchengladbach star Marcus Thuram in January.

Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin has already indicated that he wants to see Marcus arrive at St James’ Park in the transfer window.

Yet if Newcastle get their way, they may well end up signing both Khephren and Marcus in a real family affair for the Thurams.
