French outlet Media Foot claim Aston Villa and Manchester United have ‘expressed interest’ in signing Lyon striker Moussa Dembele in the January window – with the French star’s contract due to expire at the end of the season.
Dembele, 26, scored a huge 22 goals in 36 games and laid on five assists last season for Lyon. He was in stunning form. This time around, he has struggled. Just two goals in 12 games. Perhaps, his future being up in the air is affecting him.
So, where next for the ex-Celtic striker? Well, Media Foot give a clue as to where he could end up – and it might be a return to England. So many years, after he left Fulham to join Celtic in the summer of 2018. He is certain to leave Lyon.
Indeed, the report states Aston Villa and Manchester United have ‘expressed interest’ over a move for Dembele. The report also says an offer from Galatasaray has been rejected, worth £4.4m. Lyon want a fee between £7m and £9m.

In terms of wages, Media Foot claim that he wants £60,000 a week at his new club. A figure then, easily affordable for any Premier League club – let alone cash-rich Aston Villa, and one of the biggest in the world, in Manchester United.
Aston Villa and Manchester United express interest in Dembele
It is difficult to tell whether Dembele would be a good signing. The season prior to his stunning 21-22 form, he scored just one goal. Then this season, he has just two in 12. It seems as if Dembele needs motivation to score goals regularly.
Would Villa or United give him that platform? A move to Old Trafford certainly would. But the question mark over a move to Old Trafford is whether or not would he start for Erik ten Hag? He would at Villa – but are they big enough?
