Michael Beale told Thursday’s press conference – as per Rangers’ YouTube – that Rangers midfielder John Lundstram had an injection to play on Tuesday night, but the Ibrox maestro started the game on the bench at Pittodrie.
Rangers came from behind to win the game 3-2, with Scott Arfield scoring a wonderful brace in injury time. It came after Fashion Sakala’s opener was cancelled out by Duk and Leighton Clarkson. But Rangers won a second game 3-2.
Injuries are aplenty at Rangers right now. Numerous players missing, a number of players playing through injury. Beale also confirmed rumours that James Tavernier travelled to the game himself – instead of joining the team on the coach.
That is because, the skipper was suffering with the flu. Now, Beale has also told reporters that £22k-a-week star Lundstram played after taking an injection – despite the midfielder starting the game against Aberdeen on the bench.
“John Lundstram took an injection to be on the bench on Tuesday night. When you come in it is like a Pandora’s box [in terms of injuries] which I wasn’t expecting, but so far, so good,” Beale told reporters, as per Rangers YouTube.

Connor Goldson played 90 minutes despite only training twice – telling media he is “absolutely exhausted”. Borna Barisic, Tom Lawrence, Kemar Roofe, Antonio Colak, Filip Helander, John Souttar, Ridvan Yilmaz and Ianis Hagi are out.
Players actually on the pitch carrying knocks or lacking fitness included Tavernier, Goldson, Lundstram, Alfredo Morelos and others. Beale really does have his hands ties as to who he can pick – and who he cannot. Five changes, for Friday.
Beale confirmed as much on Tuesday night. You would expect Lundstram to come in if he can. Glen Kamara required surgery a couple of months ago but has been playing through the pain, too. Scott Arfield could start after his brace.
