Fulham are reportedly interested in signing Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, who this season has found himself as a second-choice starting midfielder for Frank Lampard’s side.

According to Sky Sports News, Marco Silva is eager to work with the 29-year-old midfielder for a third time with Doucoure playing under the Portuguese manager at both Watford and the Toffees, with the Fulham boss now keen to bring the Everton man to west London.

Doucoure has hardly featured for Everton this season, with the Mali international making just three starts in all competitions as injuries and a lack of form have played a role Lampard favouring other players in the central midfield. And as a result, a move could be on the cards in January.

Fulham are flying in the Premier League having been promoted from the Championship this season, and the Cottagers seen keen to make more signings in the winter window, with a move for Doucoure a smart move from Silva’s club.

Signed by Everton in 2020 for a reported £20m, Lampard could be open to allowing Doucoure to leave Goodison Park next month with Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gueye the first-choice central midfield pairing this season, and the 29-year-old himself could want another reunion with Silva.

Indeed, minutes have been hard to get this season, and with Fulham not only likely to stay up this season but to also finish ahead of Everton in the Premier League standings, Doucoure signing for the English side makes a lot of sense for the midfielder.

Doucoure must do all he can to sign for Fulham next month

It’s clear for many that Doucoure’s time at Everton is coming to an end, with Lampard preferring other players in the midfield and only seeing the former Watford star as a defensive option off the bench when needed to close out a game. And for the player himself, he must do all he can to move to Fulham in January.

After all, Silva is a big fan of Doucoure and would offer the Mali superstar regular playing time for Fulham if a deal can be made next month, and given how unlikely Everton’s Premier League status is once again, a move to the English capital could be a great decision for the 29-year-old.
