ACF Fiorentina have reportedly deemed Sofyan Amrabat as ‘unsellable’ amid reports that Liverpool want to sign the Morocco midfielder following his displays at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A side are keen to keep hold of the 26-year-old, who over the last month has seen his valuation sky-rocket after playing a huge role in Morocco’s run to the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar, the furthest an African or Arabic nation has ever gone in the competition.
And as per Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool are now interested in signing Amrabat, with some reports claiming that the midfielder could cost as much as €50m (£44m) following his heroics at the World Cup, and this latest update could make things complicated for the Reds.
Midfield is a position Liverpool are desperate to strengthen in the January transfer window, and Amrabat’s performances in Qatar have given many the impression that the Moroccan would be perfect for the Anfield side next month.

Indeed, Amrabat won many plaudits for his warrior-like performances for the Atlas Lions at the World Cup, yet this latest update that Fiorentina aren’t interested in selling the midfielder could lead to Liverpool vastly overpaying for the 26-year-old, as if his current price tag wasn’t high enough.
However, given Liverpool’s midfield issues and how attractive an option Amrabat looks after Qatar, over-spending widely on the Serie A superstar isn’t the unlikeliest thing the Reds could do in January, especially given how persistent rumours continue to be surrounding the dynamo.
Liverpool must head caution when moving to sign Amrabat

Amrabat’s stock has risen to a level that nobody could have predicted pre-World Cup, with the midfielder now arguably one of the most valuable in his position in Europe and a player that many of the continent’s elite are keen to sign next month, yet Liverpool must be cautious when moving for the Moroccan.
After all, World Cup hype can whip the smartest of clubs into a dazed frenzy, and the Reds have to be certain that Amrabat would be the right signing to solve their midfield issues as Liverpool now look ready to spend big on a player next month in the January window.
