Real Madrid are reportedly confident they have won the race to sign Jude Bellingham in a £100m deal, with Manchester City now set to miss out on the England international.

According to the Sun, the UEFA Champions League champions believe they can pip the likes of City, Chelsea and Liverpool to sign Bellingham, who is set to leave Borussia Dortmund in 2023 after another sensational year.

Bellingham was one of the stars of the 2022 Qatar World Cup with England as the midfielder ran the show for the Three Lions despite crashing out at the quarter-final stages of the competition, with Dortmund now set to cash in on their star wonderkid in the coming months.

Whilst it’s unknown when Bellingham will actually leave Dortmund, there is a strong belief that the summer will be the right time for the 19-year-old to depart Germany for one of Europe’s elite, with Madrid now seemingly set to win the race to sign the former Birmingham City superstar.

Indeed, City had long been seen as the favourites to sign Bellingham in 2023. However, the Manchester side now look set to miss out on a major target to a rival club in Madrid, who could soon capture one of Europe’s most exciting midfield talents.

As per the report, Carlo Ancelotti believes that the allure of becoming an icon at Madrid will be enough to secure Bellingham’s signature, with a deal worth over £100m stated to be enough to bring the defender from Dortmund to the Spanish capital next year.

City always felt like a realistic destination for Bellingham given the Premier League giants’ recent acquisition of Erling Haaland and their need for a long-term midfielder to replace some key players, which is why Madrid winning the race for the teenager feels like such a blockbuster move.

Los Blancos are now set to land arguably the best young midfielder in world football, and with Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni already on their books, Madrid could soon have one of the best new trios in the game if Bellingham soon arrives.
