Pep Lijnders has been singing the praises of Liverpool wonderkid Ben Doak.
Signed from Celtic in March of this year, the 17-year-old has been slowly but surely making a major name for himself at Kirkby.
He made his senior debut for Liverpool in the Carabao Cup last month and, with another League Cup tie with Manchester City on the horizon, could face Pep Guardiola’s side, too.
This is clearly a special teenager, evident by the fact that Jurgen Klopp and coach Lijnders brought him to Dubai on the warm weather training camp.
Klopp and Lijnders oversaw a training session which the latter labelled as ‘insane’ today, and singled out the former Bhoy for praise.

He told Liverpool’s website: “Yesterday I walked off the pitch, we trained, the session was insane – really cool. And I say immediately [to Klopp], ‘Ben Doak, can you imagine [if] he was a signing? If [he] would do this, what he is doing in this session?’
“He’s very quick, but if you are very quick and technical, that makes a really dangerous player and he learns as well really quick. I like that combination of speed, mentality and technique [and] he has all three.”
It’ll be fascinating to see if Klopp uses him against the Citizens.
Obviously this is a massive encounter, even if it’s only the League Cup, but should Klopp play him then it’ll do wonders for Doak’s confidence.
Playing against Derby is one thing, but this is the Premier League champions, who have Erling Haaland poised to start.
It could be a gamechanger for Doak on a development level if he plays for Liverpool tomorrow night.
