Galatasaray could double Sacha Boey’s wages in an attempt to keep the £13 million-rated full-back out of the clutches of Premier League outfit Crystal Palace, according to Turkish publication TRT Spor.

Palace have come a long way since Patrick Vieira’s appointment in the summer of 2021; from the two-banks-of-four pragmatism of Roy Hodgson to the modern, forward-thinking ways of their highly-rated head coach. Ebere Eze, Odsonne Edouard, Michael Olise, Joachim Andersen and Cheick Doucoure; this is an Eagles side brimming with ‘ballers’.

But if there is one area of the Crystal Palace squad yet to be, well, Vieira-fied, it’s right-back.

With all due respect to Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne, they are not exactly the type of adventurous, buccaneering full-backs Vieira would ideally want. Hence why the right-hand side of Crystal Palace’s defence seems to be an area ripe for recruitment in the winter window.

90Min say that talks are underway with Manchester United regarding a deal that could see academy graduate Aaron Wan-Bissaka return to Selhurst Park, although Wolves now appear to be leading the race. Leeds youngster Cody Drameh is another option.

Boey, meanwhile, will not be easily landed.

Crystal Palace want a right-back with Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey a target

According to TRT Spor, Boey should sign a new deal ‘in the coming days’ at the Turkish giants. What’s more, his wages are likely to be doubled, from around £8,000-a-week to £16,000-a-week. Of course, this is still less than Crystal Palace could offer. Premier League riches and all that.

But the £13 million-rated former France U20 international appears happy and settled in the Turkish Super Lig, having turned down Scottish champions Celtic in order to join Galatasaray on a long-term deal during 2021.

His contract runs until 2025, as things stand.

“Yes, Celtic wanted to sign me,” the former Rennes youngster explained at the time. “When I had to make a decision, I chose Galatasaray because it was a bigger club. That’s why I chose Galatasaray.

“I know Galatasaray from my childhood and the matches they played in Europe. I came to Turkey to improve myself and I will do the necessary work to achieve this.”

According to FootMercato, Crystal Palace are ‘very’ keen on Boey.
