Liverpool appear to have a superstar on their hands in Ben Doak, and the youngster is now even being compared to Wayne Rooney.

That’s the view of his agent Jackie McNamara, who works with the agency Consilium.

Doak joined up with Consilium in November of last year and it has been a whirlwind for him ever since.

Doak was handed his first-team debut at Celtic in January, aged just 16.

The teenager was then given a chance as a substitute in the derby against Rangers, with Ange Postecoglou clearly seeing huge talent in Doak.

Sadly, Celtic just couldn’t keep hold of him and Liverpool pounced to secure Doak’s signature back in March, paying around £600,000 in compensation.

Doak may only be 17 but the excitement is certainly building.

The winger has been featuring for Liverpool’s first team in Dubai having made his senior debut for the club last month.

Doak has really caught the eye and many believe that the Scot is on a path to stardom at Anfield.

Four goals and four assists in just six UEFA Youth League games is pretty astonishing stuff and Doak is now being praised even more.

McNamara compares Liverpool ace Doak to Wayne Rooney

Agent McNamara has told BBC Sport that he thinks Doak is the Scottish Wayne Rooney – and even said that to Celtic boss Postecoglou.

McNamara, who was a key man for Celtic in his playing days, added that he has never seen anything like Doak in his years in the game.

“He’s a Scottish Rooney,” says McNamara. “That’s what I said to Ange at Celtic, I told him I’ve never seen anything like Ben,” he added.

That’s a big comparison and one that may be tricky to live up to over the coming years.

Rooney racked up 208 Premier League goals, five Premier League titles, an FA Cup, three EFL Cups, a Europa League and a Champions League.

Add in a whole host of personal accolades and Rooney is simply one of the Premier League greats.

It’s a long way for Doak to reach that level but you just never know – maybe Liverpool really do have their own version of Rooney on their hands.
