Liverpool could engineer a January loan move for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie as they consider another short-term solution.
The Reds are expected to go into the market for a new midfielder or two in 2023.
Jude Bellingham looks to be the clear first-choice target but there have been links to Enzo Fernandez and Sofyan Amrabat too.
A new name has been mentioned now though with the Daily Mail suggesting that McKennie is a possible loan target for January.
McKennie is expected to leave Juventus in 2023 and Liverpool may take a look at him as a stop-gap until a Bellingham or Fernandez can arrive.
There would also be scope for Liverpool to turn any loan for McKennie permanent, which could appeal to Jurgen Klopp and co.
Tuttosport claim that Tottenham have started new talks to try and sign McKennie in the January transfer window.
Tottenham have been chasing McKennie for some time now with top Spurs reporter Alasdair Gold even claiming on YouTube that Paratici thinks McKennie is a ‘superstar’.
Liverpool could now enter the race though and leave Tottenham worried that they miss out after all this time.

Liverpool move for McKennie seems to be allowed
The Reds do already have a Juventus midfielder on loan with them.
Arthur Melo arrived on loan from Juventus on deadline day but has only played 13 minutes for Liverpool due to injuries.
The natural concern here would be whether Liverpool can register another Juventus loanee.
One Premier League press release stated that ‘the maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time’.
That could prevent Liverpool from having Arthur and McKennie on loan from Juventus at the same time and may require the Brazilian to go back to Turin.
Yet SQAF note that this only applies to Premier League clubs and it can be circumvented by having a mandatory purchase option as part of the loan.
Tottenham had both Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero on loan from Atalanta last season and that was perfectly fine, with Romero turning his move permanent at the end.
It looks like Liverpool will be able to add McKennie alongside Arthur, but they may have to commit to a permanent move for the American international.
