Newcastle United want Youssoufa Moukoko and appear to be lurking in the race for the Borussia Dortmund striker amid strong links to Chelsea.

That’s according to the Daily Mail as they report that Newcastle have joined a rather crowded race for Moukoko’s signature.

It’s stated that Chelsea have already engineered talks to sign Moukoko but they are now pressing ahead with a deal for Molde attacker Datro Fofana.

Chelsea may yet decide to sign both Moukoko and Fofana but the push for the Ivorian may just give other clubs hope.

Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested in Moukoko, with Newcastle taking on the Premier League’s big boys.

Moukoko is out of contract at the end of the season and could simply decide to walk away from Dortmund in 2023.

Clubs may even attempt a cheeky January bid for the Dortmund teenager with Newcastle looking to land a real coup.

Who is Newcastle target Youssoufa Moukoko?

Moukoko, 18, was born in Cameroon but moved to Hamburg at the age of just 10 to be with his father.

St Pauli quickly snapped up Moukoko but Dortmund understandably saw his potential and secured his signature in 2016.

Moukoko has been hyped up in the Dortmund ranks for years now and there have been more than a few promising signs.

The teenager has scored six times in 14 Bundesliga games this season and has already earned his first two caps for Germany at senior level.

The sky appears to be the limit for Moukoko and it’s no surprise that clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool are interested.

Newcastle wouldn’t have had a hope of pulling off this kind of deal 18 months ago but times are changing.

Newcastle have the money to compete but are also coming up with the results on the pitch to attract major signings.

That includes wonderkids and Moukoko may well believe that he can become a star at Newcastle despite the interest from elsewhere.
