The World Cup final is on Sunday and all eyes will be on the 22 players on the pitch as Argentina face France for the game’s biggest prize.

The players will be the centre of attention at the weekend, but every football fan will tell you that it is the fans that make this sport the spectacle that it is.

So, with that in mind, let’s have a look at how many fans are at the World Cup final for the 2022 edition.

How many fans are at the World Cup final?

This game will be held at the Lusail Stadium and is expected to be a sell-out.

Argentina and France have been two of the best-supported sides at this World Cup, and tickets are at a premium as supporters flock to this game knowing that it’s the last time we will see Lionel Messi on this stage.

Arguably the greatest player of all-time will bow out of World Cup action on Sunday, and, as you can imagine, tickets to see him live are like absolute gold dust.

The Lusail Stadium holds 88,966 supporters, and the attendance really won’t be far off that mark for this game.

The Lusail actually hosted the semi-final between France and Morocco on Wednesday evening, and the official figure for that match was 88,966, so don’t be surprised to see a repeat here.

With that being said, Qatar have been known to inflate these figures at this tournament, so don’t be too shocked if you see a handful of empty seats on Sunday, but this will be one of the most well-attended games of the tournament.

Lusail Stadium reducing capacity

Sadly, this is the final time we will see so many fans in this stadium.

The Lusail Stadium’s capacity is set to reduce to 40,000 after the World Cup with extra seating being removed and other parts of the ground being repurposed as a community space with shops, cafés, athletic and education facilities, and a health clinic.
