Jamie Carragher has hailed Ibrahima Konate after the Liverpool defender turned in a colossal display for France against Morocco on Wednesday.

Carragher took to Twitter on Wednesday night to heap praise on Konate after his performance in France’s 2-0 win.

The Sky Sports pundit suggested that Konate was the Man of the Match in France’s win, even ahead of the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann.

Carragher suggested that he just can’t see how Konate could possibly be left out of the World Cup final against Argentina now.

Dayot Upamecano missed the win over Morocco after a rash and shaky performance against England on Saturday night.

Carragher now believes that Konate has nailed down a spot in the starting lineup for Didier Deschamps and hopes to see him line u against Lionel Messi and co.

Liverpool star Konate shines for France

This wasn’t a comfortable night for France.

Morocco were outstanding yet again, completely befitting of their position in the semi-finals after a miraculous tournament.

France had to dig in for large parts of the game and Konate was key to preserving that clean sheet and keeping Morocco at bay.

Konate made five interceptions, two clearances, two tackles, blocked two shots and won an aerial duel in an imperious display.

The 23-year-old appears to be getting better and better; the only thing he needs to do now is stay fit and avoid injuries.

If Konate can do that, Konate will become a first-choice defender for both Liverpool and France moving forward.

For now though, it’s all about the World Cup final and Konate’s attempts at glory.

Many of this France were part of the 2018 squad that won the World Cup but Konate wasn’t – and he will now be hoping to ruin Messi’s dreams in Qatar.
