Everton have reportedly sent Watford an enquiry to sign Senegal international Ismaila Sarr, who recently started against England at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

According to TuttoUdinese, the Toffees are interested in signing the Championship attacker ahead of the January transfer window, with Watford valuing their star attacker as highly as £35m despite the winger’s contract expiring in 18 months time.

Sarr was one of Senegal’s players out in Qatar this winter as the attacker appeared in every fixture for the reigning AFCON champions, scoring one goal. And it is now expected that the 24-year-old winger will finally leave Vicarage Road in the upcoming window.

The former Stade Rennais star has been in strong form for the Hornets this season with Sarr bagging six goals and four assists in the Championship, and now Everton are looking to sign the attacker to help Frank Lampard’s side avoid another relegation scrap.

Everton have struggled for goals since the departure of Richarlison this summer, and whilst Sarr is a different player to the Brazilian international, the Watford winger has the potential to be a sensational addition for the Goodison Park side in January.

Indeed, Sarr is an experienced attacker in the Premier League despite his tender age, and for a club like Everton, the Senegal star could be the missing piece Lampard needs to get his attacking line firing on all cylinders ahead of 2023.

Everton are in need of something special to flicker their attack back into life, and signing Sarr could do just that given how electric the winger can be on his day and how much dynamism the forward brings to any side.

Fast, tricky and difficult to handle, Sarr could thrive for an Everton side that are in need of an attacker who has that cutting edge to drag Lampard’s side over the finish line and to kill-off games when the moments matter the most, with a January deal now looking very likely.
