The agent of Rangers star Ridvan Yilmaz has told Gazete Damga – as per Turkish Football – that his client is focused on making it work at Ibrox despite a difficult start to life under Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Michael Beale has since come in.
Bought for £4million in the summer from Besiktas, Rangers looked as though they had a real talent on their hands. A Turkey international with six caps, Yilmaz had clocked up 62 senior outings for Besiktas – having a hand in 11 goals.
With Borna Barisic’s form beginning to dwindle, signing a long-term replacement was key at left-back. While that could still be the case, and Yilmaz comes in for Barisic, it has been a tricky start for the young defender. Barisic is still key.
It has left Yilmaz to play just seven times in all competitions. He managed just one outing in the Champions League, and only one start in the Premiership so far. His agent, Necdet Ergezen, discussed his future ahead of January.
“It should not be forgotten that Rıdvan’s transfer process was not very happy this summer. This is a project. We stand behind this, both me and the player. We did not take Rıdvan to Europe to return him to Turkey after 5 months.”

The agent of Rangers star Yilmaz says client is focused at Ibrox
While it has been a difficult start to life at Rangers for Yilmaz, he needs to be patient. He needs to learn the way of Rangers, the culture of Scottish football, the physicality of it. Learn from Barisic, before he can overtake the Croatian.
It must be remembered that he is still only 21 with less than 70 senior appearances to his name at professional level. so it was always going to take time. Unfortunately, the poor form of Rangers has led to criticism from supporters.
Rangers have had little luck from their summer signings so far. John Souttar and Tom Lawrence are injured and have been for the majority of their Ibrox stay. But Yilmaz is different – he deserves time, and he should get it.
