Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United are among the clubs interested in signing Goncalo Ramos from Benfica in the January transfer window, according to GiveMeSport.

The report has claimed that Wolves, Newcastle, Arsenal, Manchester United, Leeds United and Southampton all are keen on securing the services of the 21-year-old Portugal international striker.

Ramos reportedly has a big release clause.

It is said to be €120 million (£103.25 million).

Could Wolverhampton Wanderers or Newcastle sign Goncalo Ramos?

In our opinion, it is unlikely that Wolverhampton Wanderers or Newcastle United would be able to sign Goncalo Ramos in the January transfer window.

Benfica are aiming to win the Portuguese Primeira Liga this season, and they will surely not sell any of their best players in the middle of the campaign.

Unless, of course, Wolves or Newcastle pay Ramos’s release clause.

Which they are unlikely to do in January.

However, things could be different next summer, especially for Newcastle.

Wolves are fighting for survival in the Premier League at the moment.

Even if the Wanderers survive and even though there is a strong Portuguese contingent at the club, Ramos will probably aim for a bigger club with higher ambitions.

Newcastle are in the race for the Premier League top four this season, and if they finish in the UEFA Champions League places, then they will be hugely appealing to Ramos.

Ramos has scored nine goals and given one assist in 11 Portuguese league matches so far this season.

The 21-year-old scored three goals and gave one assist in four World Cup matches for Portugal in Qatar.
