Liverpool are in action this afternoon as they take on Lyon in the Dubai Super Cup with Jurgen Klopp ramping up his preparations.

Premier League action will be back in just a couple of weeks and managers are getting ready.

England’s World Cup exit on Saturday night will only accelerate the conversations about Premier League football returning.

Liverpool are in action over in Dubai today and Klopp will hope to see some positive signs against Lyon ahead of facing Manchester City in the EFL Cup on Thursday the 22nd.

Liverpool predicted lineup v Lyon

It’s always difficult to predict lineups for what is pretty much a glorified friendly, but let’s give it a go.

Alisson has been at the World Cup so we’re backing Caoimhin Kelleher to be given the nod between the sticks for Liverpool.

It’s a similar story at right back; Trent Alexander-Arnold didn’t play a huge role for England but has been at the World Cup, so Calvin Ramsay could start at right back.

Andrew Robertson could make it a Scottish full back duo by starting on the left side today.

Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate have both been in Qatar so it looks like Joe Gomez and Joel Matip could feature at centre back.

Thiago bizarrely wasn’t picked by Spain so should feature in midfield today, and it would be great to see Stefan Bajcetic alongside him.

Bajcetic is a talented youngster and Lyon could pose a great challenge for him as he continues his development.

Harvey Elliott seems a strong shout on the right flank with Fabio Carvalho potentially featuring on the left.

Mohamed Salah would then lead the attack with Roberto Firmino behind him in something of a 4-2-3-1 setup.

Liverpool have a number of other notable players in their squad, including James Milner, Nat Phillips and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain alongside a host of youngsters who will be desperate to play.

Predicted Liverpool lineup: Kelleher; Ramsay, Gomez, Matip, Robertson; Bajcetic, Thiago; Elliott, Firmino, Carvalho; Salah.
