Italian site Corriere Dello Sport claim Serie A side Fiorentina will look to double the wages of Sofyan Amrabat to a figure in the region of £60,000 a week – in order to deter interest in the Morocco hero from Liverpool and Tottenham.

Amrabat, 26, has been sensational at the World Cup for Morocco. Helping them reach the quarter-finals of the competition, Morocco even knocked Spain out on penalties in the last 16. Amrabat has been pivotal to their success.

Indeed, he has played every single minute. Completing all three 90 minutes for Morocco in the group stages, and then seeing out the entire 120 minutes against Spain. He will surely start and finish against Portugal in the next round.

Such form has attracted attention from both Liverpool and Tottenham, according to Foot Mercato. But Fiorentina are desperate to keep him on side, with his current deal due to expire in 2024. He is currently earning £30,000 a week.

Indeed, it is claimed that Fiorentina’s Chief Exexcutive Joe Barone flew to Qatar earlier this week to offer Amrabat a new deal. A deal that would see Amrabat’s deal extend until June 2027, and doubled to £60,000 a week.

Fiorentina will double Amrabat wages: Liverpool and Tottenham interest

While doubling his money at Fiorentina will prove tempting, Amrabat will surely have his head turned by a move to England. Spurs and Liverpool are both in the Champions League knockout rounds and pushing for the top four.

Amrabat is at an important stage of his career. He is about to enter his peak years, turning 27 next August. Does he want to give his best years to Fiorentina – or does he want to test himself. Is he ambitious enough to move to England?

Tottenham have signed Yves Bissouma and while they could do with another midfielder, he would be warming the bench. At Liverpool, given Fabinho’s form and a number of players leaving, a move to Anfield might better suit him.
