The legendary former AC Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi has backed rumoured Tottenham target Hakim Ziyech to sign for the Serie A giants in the January transfer window.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian coach lauded the Moroccan international for his qualities following an impressive 2022 FIFA World Cup, where Ziyech has been one of the stars of the competition as the North African nation eliminated Spain from the competition.
And as per the report, Milan are now pushing hard to sign Ziyech on loan, with Tottenham also chasing the Chelsea attacker. Though it seems like Antonio Conte’s side will miss out on the 29-year-old winger to their upcoming UEFA Champions League rivals.
Indeed, Ziyech seems like an ideal fit for Milan in January. And according to Sacchi, who won back-to-back European titles with the Rossoneri during his time at the San Siro, the Premier League playmaker has the ability and the potential to become a superstar for the reigning Italian champions.

Sacchi said: “I repeat, he has quality, but the technique is not the only thing a player needs to succeed. The mentality is crucial. I don’t know Ziyech personally, so I can’t judge him. I trust Maldini, Pioli and Massara who have gotten very few things wrong so far. If they are convinced that he can be useful, then they should go for him.
The Italian coach added: “Those who join Milan must understand that they have arrived in the second biggest team in the world after Real Madrid. Whoever arrives must be grateful to the club. Many have returned to life thanks to Milan, while those who left have often struggled, think of Kaka or Shevchenko.”
Milan signing Ziyech will be one of the best deals of the January window

Ziyech has shown at the World Cup that the winger is more than capable of performing against some of the best players in world football. And for Milan, signing the Chelsea outcast could prove to be one of the best deals of the January transfer window.
Whilst the move will be a blow for Tottenham, Milan feel like a perfect club for Ziyech to return to his best form, with the attacker more than good enough to fit in at the San Siro and to lead Stefan Pioli’s side against the north London side in the Champions League.
