Newcastle United want Antonee Robinson but Fulham have absolutely no intention of selling the left back in the January transfer window.

It doesn’t look like Newcastle will go crazy in the January window but they will still have an eye on possible signings.

Eddie Howe and Dan Ashworth will have targets in mind and a left back could be on the wish list.

Matt Targett and Dan Burn have shared the left back role this season and Newcastle may fancy landing a first-choice left back for Howe’s back line.

Newcastle United want Antonee Robinson

The new name in the mix is Fulham defender Antonee Robinson.

TEAMtalk claim that Newcastle have taken a real liking to Robinson and may make a move for him in January.

Robinson was outstanding for the United States at the World Cup – arguably their best player over in Qatar.

Robinson’s pace and desire to go forward has been well known for years now but he has really become a solid defender too.

The 25-year-old is attracting interest from Inter Milan but Newcastle are now ready to enter the race.

Transfer insider Dean Jones has now spoken to Give Me Sport about Robinson’s future at Craven Cottage.

Jones claims that Fulham haven’t yet had any enquiries for Robinson and have no intention of selling the defender in January.

Whether anybody can change that stance remains to be seen, but Newcastle may hope to tempt Fulham into a deal.

“He’s had a good season with Fulham, he’s had a good World Cup,” said Jones. “There’s been clear progress in his overall game too, he’s very much becoming the all-round modern full-back.”

“At this stage Fulham have had no inquiries, they’ve got no intention to sell him. So we’ll have to see whether anybody can change that situation,” he added.

Come January, Robinson will be into the final 18 months of his Fulham contract.

Fulham certainly won’t want to see him leave for nothing and they may be approaching crunch time over whether to sell Robinson if he won’t sign an extension.

Newcastle will be hoping to benefit and secure their left back for years to come with a move for Robinson.
