Richarlison and Brazil knocked South Korea and Son Heung-min out of the World Cup on Monday at Stadium 974 in one of the best performances of the tournament – and Richarlison has sent his Tottenham teammate a message.
Richarlison, 25, netted his third goal of the competition in a 4-1 win for Brazil. Vinicius Jr opened the scoring, before Neymar netted a second soon after on 13 minutes from the penalty spot. But Richarlison scored the best of the game.
A triple-header, neat interplay and a lovely finish from the £50million Tottenham signing sealed the deal. That is, if it was not already done. West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta made it four, before Paik Seung-ho got a late consolation.
While it was a result that was largely expected, Tite’s men did in style. Scoring an early goal was important, and it set Brazil on their way. They now take on Croatia in the quarter-finals, with Brazil easily one of the favourites to win.
It was at the expense of his Tottenham teammate, and South Korea skipper Son. The Spurs man endured a tricky tournament, failing to score in his four appearances – wearing a mask. Richarlison applauded Son on Twitter.

Indeed, as the picture shows above, Son was consoled by Richarlison after the full-time whistle. The Spurs ace was clearly upset on the pitch, as his World Cup dream comes to an end. Son is likely to still be around for the next one.
But a real shame for Son, who was rushed back to play for his country – having suffered a fractured under his left eye while playing for Spurs just a few weeks ago. An injury, during the 2-1 win over Marseille, that required surgery.
Brazil now look forward to a quarter-final against Croatia – who beat Japan on penalties. Richarlison will be one of the favourites to go on and win the World Cup golden boot, considering he has three goals – and starting up top.
