Sofyan Amrabat showed why Tottenham Hotspur should sign him in his masterful showing for Morocco in their win against Spain in the World Cup last-16.

Spurs missed out on his signature

The Fiorentina midfielder’s brother has recently told De Telegraaf that Spurs could have signed him in January.

However, both clubs failed to agree on a transfer fee for the 25-year-old, which meant the move did not get over the line.

Sky reporter Florian Plettenburg has claimed that clubs can sign the Moroccan international for £26 million.

Dubbed as “world class” by Morocco boss Walid Regragui, the 26-year-old embodied his manager’s kind words in his all-conquering showing in the World Cup Round of 16.

Spurs should right their wrongs by going all in for Amrabat after his heroics against Spain

So much so that in our view, Sofyan Amrabat proved how he could transform Tottenham Hotspur in midfield after his masterclass against Spain.

A feature of the La Viola star that stood out was his brilliant ball-carrying ability.

Amrabat constantly beat the Spanish pressers for fun, dragging Morocco forward time and again.

A glimpse at the Lilywhites’ midfield will show you there is not a single dribbler at their disposal.

The way the former Feyenoord man broke the lines was extremely impressive as well, and was perhaps unlucky not to get an assist.

Again, the North Londoners lack a midfielder that can thread that killer pass through.

Against Luis Enrique’s men, Amrabat was arguably the best presser on the pitch as well.

And for all his dogwork, the ex-Club Brugge lynchpin also won the ball back on several occasions.

However, he has always boasted of an excellent defensive game.

While Spurs have dogged defenders such as Pierre Emile-Hojberg and Yves Bissouma within their ranks, are any of their midfield options a blend of technical excellence and incredible athleticism like Amrabat?

The answer is a resounding no.

Sofyan Amrabat ticks more boxes than every other midfielder at Tottenham, as showed against Spain, which is why signing him remains a no-brainer.

While Antonio Conte’s men had an undeniable error of judgement, they should right their wrongs by bringing in the all-conquering midfielder.
