Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Juventus and AC Milan target Marco Asensio from Real Madrid in the January transfer window, according to CMW.

Arsenal plan January bid for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio

The Italian news outlet has claimed that Arsenal, Juventus and AC Milan all are keen on signing the £118,000-a-week (SalarySport) Spain international.

Asensio is out of contract at last season’s La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners in the summer of 2023.

So, it s likely that Juventus and Milan are looking to offer the 26-year-old pre-contracts next month.

According to CMW, the problem for the two Italian clubs is that Arsenal want to sign the three-time UEFA Champions League winners in January.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants Asensio to be part of his squad now, and the Gunners have ‘every will’ to make a bid for the 26-year-old in the January transfer window, according to the report.

Could a January transfer happen?

In our view, Arsenal will probably have to wait until the summer of 2023 to sign Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.

Madrid are a rich club who do not need to sell any of their players, especially in the middle of a season.

Yes, Asensio is a fringe player at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium at the moment, but head coach Carlo Ancelotti could use him in the second half of the season.

Moreover, the 26-year-old himself could decide to see out his contract at Madrid and then look at his options next summer instead of making a decision now.

After all, Asensio has nothing to lose really if he just waits for a few more months.

The attacker is part of the Spain squad for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Asensio has made one start and eight substitute appearances in La Liga, and has made two starts and four substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for Madrid so far this season.
