Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has posted a picture alongside Reds target Jude Bellingham on Instagram with the duo currently in Qatar – and Bayo Akinfenwa has responded, telling Alexander-Arnold to “keep working on him”.

Bellingham, 19, continues to shine for England – starting all three games for Gareth Southgate’s side. He scored the Three Lions’ first goal in a 6-2 win over Iran, and is more than likely to continue his run in the side on Sunday evening.

England enter the knockout stages with a clash against Group A runners-up Senegal in the last 16. Senegal qualified in their final group game with a late win over Ecuador, thanks to Chelsea star Kalidou Koulibaly scoring a late goal.

The England players are resting and recovering ahead of Sunday’s clash, a game Alexander-Arnold is likely to watch from the substitute’s bench. He posted a picture alongside Bellingham on Instagram on Wednesday evening.

Alexander-Arnold will know what he is doing. As will Bellingham, who responded to the post by commenting “my brother”. They are young players and social media will not be beyond them – and neither will Liverpool’s interest.

German reporter Florian Plettenburg claimed this week that it is three-horse race to sign Bellingham. Between Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid. A fee of £129million is expected, with Manchester United given no chance.

With the Reds still in the race to sign him, Akinfenwa gave his take on the photo in response. The iconic star is known for being a Reds fan – and he told Trent to keep working on him. A move for Bellingham is likely to be next summer.

If the Reds are to stand any chance of beating the other interested parties in a move for Bellingham, though, they will need to qualify for Champions League football. The price may have to come down somewhat, too.
