Italian website CalcioMercato claim that Chelsea and Tottenham are the two clubs looking to sign Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries – but that both clubs would have to pay a fee between £30million, and £34.5million to get him.
The 26-year-old remains in Qatar having started all three games for the Netherlands, helping Louis van Gaal’s side reach the last 16. The Oranje will take on the USA, who finished second in England’s group after a 1-0 win over Iran.
But his future at club level remains up in the air. Inter seem to be willing to cash in on the player they signed from PSV Eindhoven back in the summer of 2021. That is despite playing 65 times already, having a hand in 17 goals for Inter.
90Min reported this week that Spurs have actually opened talks with Inter Milan to sign Dumfries. Now, CM say both Chelsea and Spurs want to sign the Dutch star, and a fee could reach as much as £34.5million for the right-sided flyer.

Still, money well spent. Especially, for Tottenham. His wing-back style and ability to get forward and score goals – and indeed, create, suits Antonio Conte. Even more so, given the quality of his current right wing-back options at Spurs.
Emerson Royal is not the player to take Tottenham forward. Of the starting line-up, he is by far and away the current weak link. He was left out of Brazil’s World Cup squad, with Tite preferring 39-year-old Dani Alves. Perfect for Spurs.
But the juggernaut that is Chelsea, and their financial power, could edge Spurs aside. Todd Boehly has shown he is willing to pay over the odds – on fees and wages – to get a deal done. Spurs need him more than Chelsea, though.
