Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb claim Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a ‘great admirer’ of AC Milan star Ismael Bennacer, a player Arsenal sold in 2017. Talks over a new deal for Bennacer at Milan are yet to come to an agreement.
Bennacer, 24, has been excellent for Milan since joining the club from Empoli in 2019. He has clocked up 126 outings for Milan in less than four years, becoming renowned in Serie A as one of the division’s best holding midfielders.
Indeed, his form for Milan helped them win the Italian title last season. He is crucial for Milan, even captaining the side on two occasions this season. But, the Algeria star is out of contract at Milan in the summer of 2024. Talks are ongoing.
Milan have offered him a new deal worth £50,000 a week, after tax. But Bennacer wants to be one of the highest-paid players at Milan, alongside the likes of Theo Hernandez – earning around £67,000 after tax. Liverpool are keeping tabs.
The Reds need additions in midfield – especially with loan signing Arthur Melo suffering an injury that is likely to keep him out until the new year. If contract talks continue to reach an impasse, it could see Liverpool make a move for him.

Liverpool manager Klopp a great admirer of Bennacer
The Reds need a terrier like Bennacer. It was a mistake of Arsenal to sell him to Empoli in 2017, but not many could have predicted that he would become one of the best midfielders in Serie A football. He has starred for Milan.
His aggression, work rate and stamina combined with his technical abilities and passing makes him a stand out. CMW claim he is rated at £52million. But if his deal continues to wind down, then it could be Liverpool get him on the cheap.
