Manchester United want Jeremie Frimpong and talks could be initiated in January with Celtic no doubt paying very close attention to this move.

United boss Erik ten Hag is seemingly desperate to add a new right back to his United squad.

Diogo Dalot has been enjoying a strong season but needs competition, especially with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

United have an option to extend that deal by a year, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s continued exclusion from the squad means United must sign a right back.

Manchester United want Jeremie Frimpong

One name that keeps coming up in terms of United rumours is Bayer Leverkusen ace Jeremie Frimpong.

The Dutchman has proven himself to be an attack-minded right back with real quality in the final third.

Five goals and three assists in 21 games this season shows that, with Frimpong making a big impact for Leverkusen.

Formerly of Manchester City, Frimpong could fit the bill for Ten Hag and January talks may be on the cards.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Frimpong is ‘aware’ of United wanting to sign him.

Decision makers inside Old Trafford believe that Frimpong is a ‘very interesting’ player and talks are expected after the World Cup.

Frimpong hasn’t actually featured for the Netherlands in Qatar but United are seemingly ready to make their move once the tournament is over.

Plettenberg describes a potential exit for Frimpong as ‘more than possible’ and that will be interesting news to Celtic.

The Bhoys signed Frimpong from Manchester City in 2019 before selling him on for major profit just 18 months later.

Football Scotland note that Celtic put a ‘significant’ sell-on clause into Frimpong’s Leverkusen move, meaning they stand to make millions off a potential switch to Old Trafford.

Celtic have missed out on big money in Moussa Dembele’s exit but will now hope to rake it in from Frimpong making a 2023 move to United.
