Bagon, Shelgon, and Salamence first originated in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Since then, these Dragon Pokemon have been in every mainstream game since, up to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This guide will explain how to evolve Bagon and Shelgon.

Starting out as a fairly strong first evolution, Bagon is a Dragon-type Pokemon. From there, they evolve into Shelgon, who then begins to gain defenses. Once Shelgon evolves into Salamence, they become very powerful as a Flying Dragon dual-type Pokemon with lots of attack and defense.

Evolving this particular trio is very easy to do, and this guide will explain just that.

Without further ado, here is how to evolve Bagon and Shelgon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How To Evolve Bagon

To evolve the Rock Head Pokemon, all you need to do is level them up to level 30. This is very easily done and won’t take much time at all.

You can do this in three different ways. The first way is using rare candies and XP candies that you have looted from the Overworld or received as rewards from Tera Raids.

The second way is to do traditional Pokemon battles where you will get hefty chunks of XP depending on the level of the Pokemon you are fighting. The next is a new way to gain XP, and that is sending the Pokemon out to auto-battle. They will find Pokemon to fight in the Overworld, and all you have to do is stay close and make sure their HP is topped up.

Once they have reached level 30, they will evolve into Shelgon.

If you don’t want to level Bagon to 30, you can find Shelgon in one small area of Paldea.

How To Evolve Shelgon

To evolve Shelgon into Salamence, you need to level them up to level 50. As stated above, this can be done using one of the three ways stated, depending on which you find the most fun or the most comfortable to do.

Once they have reached level 50, they will evolve into Salamence, and you will have unlocked yourself a Flying Dragon dual-type Pokemon, which is incredibly good at fighting.
