Andy Halliday has told Clyde SuperScoreBoard that Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara was Michael Beale’s “favourite” player alongside Joe Aribo at Ibrox during his previous stint – with Beale now back at the club as Rangers manager.

Beale, 42, has returned to Ibrox after a brief stint in his first managerial role at QPR. Having impressed after just 22 games in the QPR hotseat, Rangers have decided to bring him back to the club. Little over a year after leaving Ibrox.

Indeed, Beale left Rangers and followed Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa when the Midlands club raided Ibrox to lure Gerrard south. In the summer, Beale left to embark on his own managerial career. Gerrard was sacked soon after.

Speaking on Beale’s appointment, Halliday recalled his time at Rangers. Beale was first-team coach and took the training sessions during his time at Rangers – and Halliday said Kamara, as well as Joe Aribo, were his favourites.

“I’ve made a prediction that Glen Kamara will start against Hibs. Kamara and Joe Aribo were always his two favourites. They are both great trainers. The optimism is he’s going to get the best out of players who have underperformed.”

Halliday: Rangers midfielder Kamara was Beale’s favourite

Kamara has endured a tricky season. The Finland midfielder has only started seven times in all competitions. According to Tutto Salernitana, the Serie A side are trying to sign Kamara. TeamTalk claim a fee of £10million is required.

But the chances of Kamara leaving Rangers has reduced, with Beale back in charge. His best form in a Rangers shirt came under Beale and Gerrard at Ibrox and with Beale now boss, you would think Kamara will once again, thrive.

Halliday claims Beale will start Kamara against Hibernian on December 15 and it might be that he is in the starting line-up. All eyes will be on his winter friendlies, including a clash against Leverkusen on December 10.
