Adnan Januzaj has been told he is free to leave La Liga strugglers Sevilla with Everton and West Ham United handed a second chance to bring the Belgium international back to the Premier League, according to Vamos mi Sevilla.
It was a move which, even on paper, felt a little odd.
While Sevilla may be lacking high-quality centre-halves and reliable centre-forwards, one area where they almost overloaded with talent is on the wings.

Januzaj, when joining on a free transfer from Real Sociedad, became the latest in a long line of mercurial wide players to put pen to paper with the Andalusia outfit, joining Papu Gomez, Suso, Erik Lamela and more.
And, predictably, opportunities have been few and far between. Januzaj has played just twice in La Liga, totalling 46 minutes of domestic action. And the one-time Manchester United whizzkid could now be on his way out the door after a matter of months; Vamos mi Sevilla reporting that he is one of three senior players told to find a new club in the winter window.
Left-back Marcos Acuna and the aforementioned Gomez are also free to go. Both are currently with Argentina at the Qatar World Cup
Will Everton or West Ham United rescue Adnan Januzaj from Sevilla?
Januzaj, at least, should not be short of offers. At 27, the languid wideman still has plenty of time on his side. And while he might never have delivered on the ‘world class potential’ he showed all those years ago at Old Trafford, Januzaj proved at Real Sociedad that he remains be a reliable source of creativity on the flanks.
He scored five times and set up three more goals in 2021/22.
According to Dean Jones, Januzaj came close to joining West Ham over the summer. The 15-time Belgium international played under David Moyes both at Man United and Sunderland.
Per AS, Everton also showed an interest in August.
Now, with the Hammers and the Toffees amongst the lowest scorers in the Premier League so far this season (the former have just 12 to their name while the latter have 11), Januzaj’s availability could come at the perfect time.
