Gary Neville says ‘I don’t want to be disrespectful’ but Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United will be the more ‘attractive proposition’ to potential buyers than Liverpool, with both clubs up for sale, as he told Sky Sports.
The Manchester United legend made it clear ‘you just can’t’ compete with the might of his former club, even though Liverpool are in a ‘better’ position than their rivals, with FSG and the Glazers looking for a way out.
The relationship between Man United fans and their own American owners has always been toxic, whilst Liverpool fans have probably felt that Jurgen Klopp has papered over the cracks of the FSG ownership, well, in the transfer market anyway.

These next 12 months could be game-changing in the Premier League and for English football because, two of the biggest clubs on English shores could be in the hands of very, very wealthy owners, perhaps from the Middle East, and owners those fans actually like and have serious ambition.
You are probably talking billions and billions in a possible sale with these clubs, as Neville was asked who would be more attractive.
“I don’t want to be disrespectful to Liverpool, at all, because they are a massive football club,” said Neville. “You look at the height of English football, when it comes to viewing figures, fans and commercial revenue, it’s Manchester United and Liverpool at the top.
“Forget that Manchester City creates a higher revenue, naturally, what would sort of be through traditional means, Manchester United and Liverpool are the two biggest clubs in the country, by a mile.
“But Manchester United will be more sought-after and will fetch a higher price than Liverpool, just because of its might. Unless Liverpool have got something sorted, they have to probably wait a little bit because the buyers are going to go to Manchester United, unless they are a Liverpool fan.
“They (Liverpool) are in a better position, on and off the field, 100%. We have said that for the last four or five years. But it’s not arrogance, you can’t deny the scale of Manchester United. You just can’t.”

LIVERPOOL AND MAN UNITED UP FOR SALE
It wasn’t long ago that these two clubs, or those running the ship, were looking to enter the now-failed European Super League, only to get slapped back in the face by the fans.
It will be interesting to know how much that has played a part in their call to sell up.
Either way, Liverpool and Man United fans will be over the moon with this news, and given what has happened over at the Etihad during the last 15 years, plus the recent Saudi-led purchase of Newcastle United, then it would be something if a Middle Eastern buyer steps foot into either these clubs, or even both.
