Netflix series and Addams Family spin-off Wednesday is here and people want to know more about the beekeeper psychic Eugene and the actor playing him, Moosa Mostafa.
Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman and landed on the streaming site on Wednesday (of course) November 23. It has become an instant success among fans.
The show is packed with a wide range of characters and creatures never seen before in the Addams Family franchise who Wednesday meets at Nevermore Academy. One such character catching the eye is Eugene Ottinger.
***WARNING: Wednesday spoilers ahead***
Who is Eugene Ottinger in Wednesday?
Eugene Ottinger is a younger student at Nevermore Academy who develops a sibling-like relationship with Wednesday Addams. In episode 3, Wednesday tells Eugene he reminds her of her brother Pugsley when she saves him from normies (normal human beings) who try to bully him.
The youngster is president of the Nevermore Hummers, aka the beekeeping club. Wednesday meets him when testing her extracurricular options.
Eugene goes on to be a valued member of the posse when he has Wednesday and Enid’s backs and includes them in the “Hive Code.” He tells the girls he wouldn’t say a word about what they were up to as “snitches get stung” while “Hummers stick together.”
Meet Moosa Mostafa: Age and career so far
Eugene is played by young British actor Moosa Mostafa. Moosa has stolen fans’ hearts in Wednesday but he isn’t new to the big screen – or Netflix come to that.
Mostafa was born in 2009 and at the age of 13 has not only secured his place as a Wednesday fan fave but has also starred in a TV show and hit UK movie.
Moosa kicked off his career in 2018 aged nine when he starred in Nativity Rocks. The film follows a wholesome storyline as staff and students of St Bernadette’s Primary School in Coventry audition for a rock musical contest.

Earlier this year, Mostafa made his Netflix debut as he took on a lead role in the series The Last Bus, which follows a group of genius-level students who set out to save humanity from an army of ruthless drones.
Who is Eugene?
In Wednesday, Eugene is one of the school’s psychic students and uses his ability to speak to the bees he loves and cares for. Eugene’s fascination with insects proves a valuable asset in Wednesday’s quest to uncover the monster thanks to his psychic abilities.
When they encounter the show’s main protagonist Marilyn Thornhill, aka Laurel Gates, Eugene’s abilities come in handy as he gets insects to attack Christina Ricci’s character.
Other psychics at Nevermore include Wednesday, Xavier Thorpe and Rowan Laslow, who tries to kill Wednesday using his powers.
Fans love Wednesday’s quirky beekeeper friend
Eugene became an instant fan favorite and some took to Twitter to share their love for Wednesday’s quirky beekeeper friend.
One fan said they “love him SM,” another called him the “only good male character” in the show, while others just love the bond between Wednesday and Eugene.
