*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Wednesday*

After months of anticipation, Netflix’s Wednesday series has finally arrived, giving fans of all ages plenty of entertainment to enjoy over Thanksgiving.

The series sees the titular Wednesday Addams enroll in the foreboding Nevermore Academy, a school for children with all kinds of weird and wonderful magical abilities.

Throughout her time at the school, Wednesday attracts the romantic attention of one of her fellow students, a psychic artist named Xavier, as well as a boy from the local town of Jericho named Tyler.

As a result, Wednesday finds herself in the middle of a complicated love triangle but who, if anyone, does the young Addams end up with by the end of the series – does she choose Tyler or Xavier?

The love triangle in Wednesday

Throughout Wednesday’s eight episodes, she finds herself at the heart of a complex love triangle with two boys vying for her affection, Xavier Thorpe and Tyler Galpin.

Xavier is a fellow student at Nevermore whose psychic abilities manifest themselves in pieces of art that he paints after experiencing a vision. He and Wednesday meet in episode 1 when he tackles her out of the way of a falling gargoyle.

Later in the episode, when Wednesday attempts to escape from Nevermore, she has her first interaction with Tyler, a normal person who lives in the nearby town of Jericho where he works as a barista.

Throughout the series, Wednesday has frequent interactions with both characters but for a while, it looks as if Tyler will be the most likely person she will end up with.

Who does Wednesday end up with?

By the end of the series, Wednesday doesn’t end up with either of them and remains romantically single.

She does, however, go on a date with Tyler and the pair even attend a dance at Nevermore together.

Their relationship reaches a turning point, however, when they share a kiss as Wednesday experiences a vision that reveals Tyler’s true identity, he is the Hyde monster that has been attacking people around Nevermore and Jericho. As such, that leaves a relationship with Tyler very much off the table.

Wednesday’s relationship with Xavier isn’t any less complicated as she initially suspected him to be the student-killing monster, which saw him get arrested.

Xavier was eventually cleared of all charges and in the final confrontation with Tyler – as well as the ghost of Jericho’s founding father Joseph Crackstone and the evil teacher Ms Thornhill, Wednesday jumped in front of an arrow to save Xavier from being killed.

Wednesday and Xavier don’t end up together by the end of the series, but by saving him, Wednesday seems to have won the affection of Xavier and he gives her a phone so that they can keep in touch over the summer.

However, arguably a bigger connection that Wednesday forms in the series is with her roommate, Enid Sinclair, a bright and bubbly werewolf who offers the perfect contrast to Wednesday’s cynical nature. While they may just be friends, for now, many have already started calling for the pair together romantically.

Fans have their thoughts on the love triangle

Following the release of the series, Wednesday fans have wasted no time in taking to social media to discuss the various elements of the love triangle as well as the possibility that Wednesday’s true romantic interest should be Enid.

One fan on Twitter was not pleased with the boys in Wednesday, saying: “Why can none of the boys in the show (Tyler and Xavier) take no for an answer?”

While another added: “Why do people ship Tyler and Wednesday? Everything in that “relationship” was basically fake. And I don’t really hate Xavier, just him with Wednesday don’t seem right.”

This fan was more convinced by Wednesday’s friendship with Eugene than her love interests: “I like Eugene’s friendship with Wednesday more than whatever’s going on with her, Tyler & Xavier.”

And finally, this fan summed up their feelings in meme form:

However, a big theme among many viewers is that Wednesday is actually more suited to a relationship with her roommate, Enid, and plenty of fans have already started shipping them.

“Tyler is out of the way and Xavier probably won’t be a love interest and Enid and Wednesday’s hug was way more dramatic than any kiss we got from the boys, we still have a chance to make #wenclair cannon next season,” commented this fan.

While this fan commented: “The way she was so unbothered with Tyler and Xavier but then proceeded to have a breakdown when Enid left her (I know what you are Wednesday Addams).”

Another fan noted: “Enid and Wednesday both kissed other people and their hug was still the most romantic and heartwarming part of the entire show.”
